The guards, who had managed to regain their footing, rushed toward him, weapons drawn. Cai moved like a force of nature, plowing through them with terrfying ease. His firsts connected with bone, sending men sprawling with broken ribs and concussions.
One guard attempted to slash his leg, but Cai kicked him aside, sending the man crashing into a wall. Another guard rushed at him from behind, but was simply trampled as he got closer.
The compound shook as Cai, with his massitve frame made his way outside, the damage to the building becoming more apparent with every step. The walls cracks, debris fell from the ceiling, and several soldiers hesitated, unsure whether to attack the giant or flee for their lives.
"They kept me for days,", she continued, her voice hollow now. "Locked away in a cabin somewhere deep in te forests to the south of here. I remember the cold there, though it wasn't anything like this. Still, it was enough to keep me from running. They watched me constantly, guards posted at every door. I had no way out."
Her voice faltered for a moment, but she forced herself to go on.
"But something happened. I don't know why, but one night, the guards were distracted. They left me alone for longer than usual, and I took the chance. I ran. I didn't know where I was going.... only that I had to get away.
"I ran for hours, through the forests, through the snow. And, I found myself here."
"Trust?" Finn scoffed, sitting up with sudden energy. "Oh, darling, trust isn't my strongest suit. But I'm loyal... in my own way. As long as it serves both of us." His grin returned, flashing in the firelight.
"You're heading south, right? Toward Elandor? Seems like everyone who's worth something ends up there.
You know someone who knows the route - and I do."
